O material pré-misturado molhado é transportado e comprimido pelos parafusos duplos e forçado através de uma placa perfurada na cabeça; a saída corta os fios extrudados em grânulos cilíndricos, que são então secos ou resfriados. O diâmetro do grânulo é definido pelo tamanho do orifício; o comprimento do grânulo é controlado por cortador RPM.
