Material is conveyed continuously on a 600 mm wide PTFE/Teflon belt through three microwave chambers. Top-fed standard rectangular waveguide ports deliver 2450 MHz microwave energy from Panasonic 2M244-M1J1 magnetrons. The microwaves cause polar molecules(primarily water) inside the material to oscillate and self-heat, simultaneously drying and(above~80°C) sterilizing the load. A German Optris infrared sensor reads the surface temperature(0-300°C, ±0.1°C) and PLC adjusts microwave output power and belt speed to hold the setpoint. A bottom-in / top-out airflow path collects the evolved water vapor, which is exhausted through PVC ducting by a 0.75 kW centrifugal fan at 1200 m³/min. Dual inductive-comb suppressors at the belt entry/exit prevent microwave leakage.
