The sample is injected by the autosampler and the quaternary low-pressure pump drives the mobile phase through the C18 column under high pressure. Sample components are separated by differential interaction with the stationary phase and eluted at different retention times; a UV-Vis PDA detector measures absorbance across 190–800 nm, and the chromatography workstation collects data for quantitative and qualitative analysis.
