Virgin pulp is evenly distributed onto the double Fourdrinier wire through the open head box. Water is progressively removed by ceramic dewatering elements in the wire section(wire dryness 15–18%). The web passes through the vacuum couch roll, then the press section(dryness 42–45%), then the sizing machine, then the 5-cylinder dryer section where steam heating brings paper dryness to 92–95%. The 5-roll calendar smooths and finishes the sheet; the pneumatic reel machine winds it into rolls; the rewinding slitter cuts rolls to required widths.
