Cold ambient air is drawn into the machine, filtered through pharmaceutical-grade filters, and heated. The warm air stream enters the bottom of the fluid-bed vessel and fluidizes the powder or granule charge(200–500 g/batch). A spray nozzle delivers atomized binder or coating solution onto the fluidizing particles; as solvent evaporates in the upward air stream, granules or coated particles form and grow. Process air exits through a bag filter that retains fine particles, protecting product yield. The heating, spraying, and fluidization parameters are controlled by the Siemens PLC and touch screen.
