Diffuse-reflectance NIR: sample is illuminated by a long-life (10,000 h) light source; reflected light enters a MEMS-scanning monochromator with grating; detector records the spectrum over 950–1650 nm at 16 nm resolution; data is processed for chemometric analysis on the onboard Linux system.
