مبدأ العمل
Polarised light from a 6V/30W adjustable halogen lamp passes through a 360°-rotatable polariser then through the specimen on a 360°-rotating graduated stage; an analyser(also 360°-rotatable with vernier, 6' resolution) above the objective rejects non-rotated light, allowing birefringent materials to produce interference colours for identification. Sliding the Bertrand lens into the optical path enables conoscopic(interference figure) observation. Lambda, lambda/4 and quartz-wedge compensators allow precise retardation measurements. Infinity-corrected modular optics and stress-free plan achromatic long-working-distance objectives ensure accurate polarimetric results.
