Sample liquid is metered by a high-precision syringe pump. The XYZ-axis positioning system moves the pump head over the liquid nitrogen tanks and dispenses droplets at the set volume(minimum 1μl). Each droplet contacts liquid nitrogen(−196 °C) and instantly freezes into a sphere. XYZ-axis speed, acceleration/deceleration, and waiting time are independently adjustable to optimise droplet rate and sphericity.
